Duke Energy 2001

In mid November 2001, Consolidated Pipe Carriers and Adsteam Logistics were awarded the pipe haul contract for the Duke Energy Natural Gas Project.

The Project entailed the transportation of 66,000 mt of concrete coated pipe from Bell Bay, Tasmania into the volatile seas in Bass Strait with direct delivery to Aliseas's dynamically positioned pipe lay vessel "Lorelay".

CPC chartered in two units of 4100 deadweight tonne multi purpose vessel (complete with Australian crew) to transport the pipe to sea and called on the assistance of Adsteam Logistics to provide tug support for safe offshore berthing.

This three hundred kilometer subsea pipeline stretching from Georgetown, Tasmania to Sea Spray, Victoria required diligent planning and precision execution to ensure optimum safety in one of the world's most notorious weather affected Straits.

The project took just over 5 months and twenty-three individual voyages to complete.

CPC/Adsteam completed this project without industrial disputation and at no time was the pipe lay vessel "Lorelay" without pipe.
